Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure aimed at correcting minor defects in the shape and contour of the nose without the use of surgical methods.You must have a clear understanding of the results that can be achieved with this technique.Any serious defect, the curvature of the nasal septum or the reduction of the nose - all this is the field of surgical correction cosmetology.
Procedure options
Modern plastic surgery offers a wide range of methods to correct both significant and subtle defects.The search for solutions to such problems began a long time ago.More and more new devices are constantly being developed.Older methods are disappearing from the arsenal of practicing beauticians and plastic surgeons.

Today, rhinoplasty without surgery can be performed using the following methods:
- Fillers.
- Threads.
- Hormonal drugs.
- Longuet.
The choice of one or another method of changing the shape of the nose without surgery depends on many factors.First, you need to clearly define your goals, specifically describe the error of interest and the desired outcome.The doctor selects the most effective method of non-surgical rhinoplasty (if possible).
A thorough medical history is taken, the presence of hypersensitivity reactions to certain drugs, and information about concomitant diseases is collected.Based on the synthesis of all the received information, a decision is made on the tactics of dealing with the problem.Non-surgical rhinoplasty of the nose allows solving a fairly large number of problems, but it is not a radical method.
There may be several reasons for this:
- the methods used are only suitable for correcting small errors;
- Most of the proposed options have a temporary effect, that is, they require repeated manipulation.
However, there are also enormous advantages over surgical methods.This is also the duration of the procedure, which rarely lasts more than half an hour.And a very short recovery period (a few days at most).Correcting errors is not accompanied by significant pain.
A special indication for non-surgical nose correction is the correction of certain "defects" that could not be changed during plastic surgery.
Application of fillers
The term "fillers" refers to special materials used in a procedure called "nose contouring".There are currently 2 large groups of fillers: absorbable and non-absorbable.However, more and more people are moving away from this latter group.
The main fillers are:
- Hyaluronic acid-based preparations.
- Collagen-based preparations of various origins.
- Preparations based on mineral compounds - calcium hydroxyapatite.
- Preparations based on artificially synthesized organic substances.
- Non-absorbable fillers: silicone implants and lipofilling.
Correcting the shape of the nose with fillers is done as follows:
- the problem area is evaluated based on a number of parameters;
- selection of the most appropriate correction method;
- The filler is injected to the desired depth using a special needle.
The administered amount of the substance is sufficient to correct minor defects of the soft tissues and cartilaginous skeleton.In most cases, the procedure is preceded by local anesthesia.For this purpose, so-called local anesthesia is used (a special gel containing a local anesthetic is applied to the skin of the nose, the bridge of the nose and the adjacent areas).
After 30 minutes, the pain sensitivity of the skin disappears completely.After completing the main stage of the procedure, it is recommended to wear a special splint for 24-48 hours to prevent displacement of the filler and unnecessary trauma.
Despite the fact that non-surgical nose correction is performed very quickly, in order to avoid unwanted effects and consolidate the result, you must follow a number of rules within 14 days:
- Do not expose to local or general high temperatures.Avoid visiting the bath, sauna, or solarium.
- Stay in the sun as little as possible.And if necessary, use sunscreen.
- Any mechanical impact on the nose area (cosmetic manipulation, massage) is strictly prohibited.
- Avoid drinking alcohol, the breakdown products of which in the body can interact with the filler and disrupt its shape.
Hyaluronic acid and collagen
Hyaluronic acid is one of the main components of the intercellular substance of connective tissue, including the skin.It provides it with properties such as elasticity and smoothness.
This is due to the structure of the acid molecule: there are a large number of hydrophilic (water-attracting) branches that saturate the injection site with liquid.Thus, after hyaluronic acid enters the thickness of the skin, water molecules accumulate, which lead to a slight local increase in the volume of the treated tissue.
This is the basis for the use of these drugs, which can be used to change the shape of the nose without surgery.Taking into account that the drugs of this group are in the form of gels, which receive the necessary properties immediately after administration, this allows the beautician to give the nose the appropriate shape.
Immediately after the drug is injected into the skin, a slight swelling of the tissue occurs.A small hematoma may form.In most cases, these side effects are subtle and barely noticeable.Usually, the swelling will disappear completely in 4-7 days without leaving a trace.
Contraindications to the administration of hyaluronic acid preparations are as follows:
- inflammatory processes in the area of injection;
- infectious diseases;
- diseases with reduced blood coagulation;
- severe diabetes mellitus of any type;
- pregnancy and lactation period.
Another type of fillers are preparations containing collagen.It is also a normal component of the skin, giving it strength and elasticity.It is usually produced by connective tissue cells - fibroblasts - but with age this substance "ages" and the skin loses its former properties.
Collagen, which reduces visible skin defects, can be bovine or human.Preference should be given to the second, since bovine protein is a foreign substance for the body and causes side effects much more often (severe swelling, pain, itching, burning, discharge and mucus).Therefore, in order to avoid unexpected reactions, an allergy test should be performed before administering bovine collagen-based medicines.
Several products have been created to perform non-surgical rhinoplasty based on human collagen.These drugs have indisputable advantages.Human collagen does not have such a pronounced reactogenic activity in relation to the immune system, so it can be used without a preliminary allergy test.
All preparations based on human collagen have certain properties.Correction of the nose without surgery with these drugs is done according to the same principle as substances containing hyaluronic acid.
Hormonal drugs
The most commonly used synthetic analogues of adrenal hormones are glucocorticoids.It has been established that these hormonal drugs can cause the destruction of soft and cartilage tissue at the site of application.This corrects the small bumps on the nose.
However, the use of this group of drugs takes several weeks and requires extreme caution and the steadiness of the doctor's hand, because a poorly selected dose or an inappropriate administration of the drug can make the error even more noticeable.
It should also be taken into account that hormonal drugs have a number of specific contraindications.They cannot be used in case of local inflammation or active herpetic process, severe diabetes mellitus or any infectious disease.In addition, glucocorticoids should not be given in the presence of fungal infections.This is due to the fact that hormones suppress the immune responses that normally inhibit the development of pathogenic fungi.
The use of hormonal drugs during pregnancy and breastfeeding is strictly prohibited, as these substances can penetrate the placenta and into milk.
Cosmetic threads
A technique has been developed for the use of cosmetic fibers, which is based on introducing thread-like structures into the skin and tightening the necessary areas.With this method, you can lift the tip of the nose that is too bent and correct the contours of the wings and bridge of the nose.

There are several important points in the operation of cosmetic fibers:
- Over time, the fibers will dissolve, allowing for future retouching (if needed).
- Since the thread is a foreign body, a natural reaction to the penetration into the body's internal environment occurs - the formation of connective tissue.This tissue remains after the yarn is absorbed.Thus, the effect lasts for a long time, and in some cases forever.
- The material from which they are made does not cause allergic reactions.
It is important that cosmetic threads can significantly change the nose contour (profile) even without surgical intervention.This cannot be achieved with other nose correction methods.
Despite all the advantages, the use of threads can cause complications:
- suppuration;
- inappropriate inflammatory response;
- thread breakage;
- the curvature of the nose.
Application of rails
A splint is a plastic device that is selected and shaped according to individual needs.With this device, you can reduce the size of your nose and slightly change its shape without surgery.

A significant advantage of this method is that there is no need to damage the skin, which completely eliminates the possibility of infection.The disadvantage is that you have to wear splints for a long time.The noticeable effect may only appear after a few months.
If the reflection in the mirror is not always satisfactory, but there is no desire for surgery, modern cosmetology science can offer many ways to correct small defects.
